***A Proposed Charism***

Welcome to the website of a proposed charism known as the Consecrates of St John the Beloved.  We intend the members of this charism to be virgin males, who wish to consecrate their virginal state to Christ without pursuing the priesthood.  The consecrates will deepen and purify their present state in life.

The CSJB may live either on their own or in a religious community setting--from being active in parish work to total reclusion in their own homes.  They may be from all walks of life.  If a Consecrate has dependents (as in elderly parents, etc.), they may retain a job in the world while living their consecration.

The charism would emerge as a private lay association of Christ's Faithful, and would be working toward recognition as an institute of religious life or new movement.

Since this is a charism, there will eventually be a rule, constitutions, horarium, remunerative work, and novitiate.  The habit will be simple:modest clothing with a medallion portraying St. John leaning on Our Lord's heart; and a wedding band--received at consecration--worn on whichever hand is counter-cultural for the individual Consecrates' location.  More formal attire is in the works.

At this time, it is not known whether the novitiate and religious community are to be in one and the same building.  However, the monastery will be named Patmos, for the island to which St. John was exiled.  Perpetual adoration will be kept.

The penalty for breaking one's chastity after consecration will be expulsion from the group.

This website is under construction.  Please check back for updates.
