***Celebrating 20 years of service to God and His People***

"We appreciate that your group wants to disseminate accurate information about the religious life for those who are discerning possible vocations."

                               Rev. Msgr. Camille Perl, Secretary
                               Pontifical Commission "Ecclesia Dei"

Cloister Outreach is a lay apostolate dedicated to promoting the cloistered religious life of either the Ordinary or Extraordinary Forms of the Latin Rite--here and abroad--and their discerners.  We also promote emerging charisms, and support their founders.

We carry out this apostolate mainly via the internet--through this website and its links--or through yahoo email lists.  The Coordinator, Gemma, is physically located in the Piedmont Triad of North Carolina, USA.

We adhere to the papal document "Ecclesia Dei Afflica," in which Pope John Paul II acknowledged our "rightful aspirations" in regard to the Extraordinary Form of the Latin Rite (formerly known as the Latin Tridentine Mass).

We also support the use of the Luminous Mysteries of the Rosary, and the Divine Mercy chaplet, in the prayer lives of the faithful.

Cloister Outreach is formerly known as the Society of Our Lady of the Cloister.  Our foundation of the Cloisterite Hermits will have the name "Reparatrix Anchoresses of Our Lady of the Cloister," since they will be working not only for cloistered vocations, but will also make reparation for the sins of the world.  Cloister Outreach is an extension of the Cloisterites' eremitical apostolate.

Since cloistered religious are not cut off from the needs of the world for which they pray and make sacrifice, Cloister Outreach will also be gathering the Reparatrices of Charity of the Immaculate Conception, an EFLR version of the white-winged Daughters of Charity.   The focus of the group will be the social justice issues which have been identified by Cloister Outreach as being crucial.  A smaller cornette is presently being designed with the assistance of a nurse's cap manufacturer.

Divine Mercy Vocation News:

St. Faustina's Congregation of the Most Holy Lord Jesus Christ, Merciful Redeemer changed its name in 1973 to the Congregation of Sisters of Merciful Jesus, and now has both active and contemplative branches.  Their link has been added to the International Cloisters page.

The Institute of Divine Mercy in Dallas, Texas, was suppressed due to a lack of vocations.  The foundress, Sr. Maria Goretti, is now serving the Lord as a cloistered nun in Ohio.
