***A proposed charism that will begin as Congregational Recluses in the CAMM/CCMM Educational Division.***
The Spirit of the Visitation is one of profound humility before God and of great sweetness toward neighbor.
St.
Francis de Sales
The Order of the Visitation of Holy Mary was founded in 1610 by St. Francis de Sales and St. Jane Frances de Chantal
in Annecy, France. The Visitation was founded for the sake of those women who were not able to pursue religious life
as lived in the established orders due to the extreme austerity of their charisms.
Instead of external mortifications, St. Francis de Sales enjoined his spiritual daughters of the Visitation to live the
interior virtues. Salesian spirituality is also applicable to everyday lives of the laity.
The Visitation's expression of Salesian spirituality has endured for well over 300 years, and the time has come to extend
it to gentlemen aspirants.
The habit of the professed will be black with a squared cowl with hood and Visitation relic cross. A large
wooden bead rosary will be suspended from a black belt.
The novices will wear the same habit only with white cowl.
The temporary professed will receive the relic cross.
***Please note: we are not associated with the Visitation order***
