The Mortuary Eremitics of St. Callistus I will be an eremitical religious organization dedicated to prayer for the faithful
departed, while maintaining cemetaries, or other reunerative work pertaining to the mortuary profession. These eremitics
could be live-in caretakers in funeral homes; provide pastoral support to the grieving; maintain cemetaries; and provide pro
bono mortuary assistance to the poor.
These eremitics' patron is St. Callistus I, a pope who had been a slave assigned to gravedigging. After winning
his freedom, he became an archdeacon, and was eventually elected pope. He shares the patronage of the mortuary business
with St. Joseph of Arimathea.
Religious practices, other than Mass, Liturgy of the Hours, and Lectio Divina, will be determined by those drawn to the
charism.
The habit will be maroon.
