Handmaids of Mary
for Mary's Dowry
***A proposed charism that will begin as an active apostolate for the CAMM/CCMM Combination Division.***

Many other UK shrines.
Our Lady has graced the United Kingdom with visions, one of which had universal influence. In one vision--Walsingham--she
asked for a house; in yet another--Cambridge--she bestowed one of the greatest sacramentals ever to be given to the world,
the Brown Scapular.
However, there exists in the UK a distressing lack of faith.
Heeding the call of Pope St. John Paul the Great to a "new evangelization," we propose the Handmaids of Mary
for Mary's Dowry. The community would be contemplative-active, with a great prayer life from which to give the fruits
of their contemplation in the Theresian Carmelite tradition--"Doing little things with great love."
Teaching St. Therese's Little Way, while practicing profound humility before God and great sweetness toward neighbor,
the sisters will be found in any and all areas of the apostolate.
The habit would be based on that of the Carmelites, only white in honor of Princess St. Winefride, with a brown scapular
to honor Our Lady of Mount Carmel, and a blue cappa to honor Our Lady of Walsingham. A black veil will be worn
by those in final profession. A rosary with a Celtic crucifix would be suspended from a belt.
