Karin Yarosh, Female Jockey, 1955-1986

Welcome graphic

On this site I'll include everything I can about Karin Yarosh, including photos, a biography, a list of races, newspaper articles, and more.

I originally became a fan of Karin's when I read of her career-ending accident in the newspaper.  The article was an interview with a female jockey visiting Churchill Downs, and she commented on Karin's accident.  As a horse-crazy-teenager-aspiring-to-become-a-jockey growing up in Kentucky, I collected newspaper and magazine articles on female jockeys.  I have a rather lofty ambition to compile a history of the female jockey movement.

What makes Karin so special in my estimation?  She was absolutely fearless.  She also knew there was a God in Heaven, and bowed to His Will for her.  As her mother, Annelise Castrenze, once told me, "To Karin, there was nothing better than God."

Thanks for taking a look at my site. Be sure to get in touch with your thoughts and suggestions. I'll be updating frequently, so please check back often.
